The Australian Defence Force held a two-month skills exercise to train over 200 Filipino soldiers on various military operations, strengthening interoperability between the two nations.
The Joint Australian Training Team-Philippines formed the Land Mobile Training Team 4 (LMTT 4), where both Australian and Philippine Armed Forces share teachings and learnings on different military drills.
The exercise, held in the Philippines’ Luzon island, included close combat shooting, urban operations, tactics, techniques and procedures, tactical care of combat causality, and urban explosive breaching.
“The training audience has primarily been officers, senior non-commissioned officers and team leaders, these representatives are able to train and then deliver the training and further increase their military’s capability,” Australian Lieutenant Paul Argaet said.
Argaet said the skills training has shifted from a less theoretical to a more practical approach.
“We’ve been working with the FSRR [First Scout Ranger Regiment] for the last two months. Throughout this period the relationship with them has been outstanding,” Commanding Officer Major Sam Brumley said.
The LMTT 4 is composed of troops from the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment and 20th Regiment, and Royal Australian Artillery.
