L3Harris Technologies has selected Moog Space and Defense Group to provide its weapon Stores Management System (SMS) for the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Armed Overwatch Program.

The USSOCOM awarded L3Harris a $3 billion contract in August to provide a fleet of up to 75 AT-802U Sky Warden multi-mission aircraft for the program to operate in austere environments with little logistical tail.

The program comprises “air support, precision strike, armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, strike coordination and forward air controller requirements.”

Aircraft production will begin in 2023.

Moog’s SMS will be integrated into each aircraft, enabling “superior fire-control and mission set capabilities,” the company wrote.

The system’s flexible and modular design enables rapid integration and future upgrades to the sensors, avionics, and weapons.

The SMS comprises an enhanced stores management computer, stores interface unit, remote power unit, and dual rail launcher for Hellfire missiles.

“Moog’s modern and flexible stores management system seamlessly integrates with our mission management system for mission agility and flexibility,” L3Harris ISR President Luke Savoie said.

“Our teams are prepared to deliver enhanced overwatch capabilities through mutual collaboration and rapid integration of new weapons systems.”
