British aerospace company BAE Systems has opened a new $150 million facility in Austin, Texas, expanding its innovation and manufacturing capabilities in the US.
With half of the 390,000-square foot (36,200 square meters) facility focusing on manufacturing, BAE is expected to transform this capability through a streamlined design that is “easily reconfigurable to match evolving technologies.”
The company said the Austin facility will focus on the design, development, and manufacturing of radio frequency and electro-optical/infrared countermeasure systems, and aircraft electrification technology. It is able to house more than 1,400 employees.
