The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has taken delivery of 1,000 Orion battle management systems to enhance its mission planning capabilities.
Referred to locally as the Olar/Amud, the Orion is a rugged, secure mobile system for dismounted forces.
The platform enables improved mission planning, navigation, positioning, and situational awareness using its geographical information system and augmented reality features.
“We are honored to complete this delivery and supply the IDF soldiers with a high-end palm-size battle management system that enhances ground-force situational awareness,” Asio Technologies Chief Executive Officer David Harel said.
Apart from the Orion systems, the company has provided other tactical defense solutions to the Israeli Army.
Additional Capabilities
According to Asio Technologies, the Orion battle management system utilizes a highly intuitive and interactive interface to provide mission-critical information.
It provides soldiers with real-time updates, including the exact position of friendly and hostile forces.
The system can communicate with other solutions to provide “a fully integrated tactical combat suite for ground forces.”
Asio Technologies said the Orion employs life-saving capabilities that allow ground forces to effectively plan and complete their missions.
“Orion provides a lightweight, flexible, agile, and familiar solution to enable augmented orientation and enhanced awareness,” the company stated on its website.
“Orion is replacing old-style paper maps, file folders and paper documents, providing self-positioning, planning, navigating, and terrain analysis with ease and simplicity.”
