Oshkosh Defense has received a $263-million contract from the US Army to manufacture Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter System (EHETS) trailers.

As part of the agreement, the company will provide a total of 466 trailers to the service’s Tank-Automotive and Armament Command.

It will also deliver associated logistics products and support services for a period of five years.

“One of Oshkosh’s core competencies is partnering with our customers to develop and deliver vehicles and trailers specifically designed to meet stringent military requirements and survive the rigors of modern combat,” Oshkosh Defense Vice President Pat Williams said.

Initial delivery will include five test trailers, which will undergo product verification and operational testing.

Work will be executed with the support of Oshkosh Defense’s major subcontractor, Broshuis B.V.

‘Mission-Critical Trailer’

Designed to be pulled by Heavy Equipment Transporter A1, the EHETS trailer is capable of carrying payloads of up to 90 tons.

It can transport the heaviest US Army tracked vehicles, including current and future versions of main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and armored personnel carriers.

The transporter has also obtained necessary highway permits to allow transport within European countries.

“The EHETS trailer is one such example of our commitment to meeting our customer’s mission requirements. We are proud that the US Army has once again called on us to produce another mission-critical trailer,” Williams stressed.
