L3Harris to Supply Processors for USAF T-7A Red Hawk Jet Trainer

Boeing has awarded L3Harris a $91 million contract to deliver mission-management processors for the US Air Force T-7A Red Hawk jet trainer.

The Red Hawk-specific processors can collate multiple data streams, allowing for easy and efficient processing of in-flight information by pilots.

L3Harris said the processors’ sensors and communication capabilities also maximize battlespace awareness through connected internal and external data networks.

“L3Harris mission-management processors are key to the T-7A Red Hawk’s mission of training the next generation of Air Force pilots,” President Ed Zoiss said.

“The processors deliver technology the Air Force can rely upon to bolster pilot readiness.”

The technology is also equipped with different specific simulations that guide pilots undergoing training.

First Jet Trainer in 60 Years

The air force’s first jet trainer in 60 years, the T-7A Red Hawk is expected to be operational by 2024.

L3Harris said the famed African American Tuskegee Airmen of World War II, known as the Red Tails, served as the inspiration for the first jet trainer.
