The Luxembourg Army has signed a 367-million-euro ($367 million) agreement with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) to replace its protected response and high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles.
The deal enables the small landlocked European country to acquire 80 command liaison and reconnaissance vehicles (CLRVs) to meet the latest military standards.
The new fleet would enhance troop safety during missions and ensure interoperability with allied countries, Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister François Bausch said.
Multi-Role, Multi-Purpose
In a statement, NSPA said the new multi-role and multi-purpose fleet features high ballistic and mine protection.
The CLRVs will also be equipped with a remote weapon station and French SCORPION program based mission equipment to ensure interoperability with international partners.
SCORPION is a program targeted at modernizing the army’s combat capabilities through new armored vehicles.
“Luxembourg had engaged NSPA to find the most efficient and effective solution to fulfill Luxembourg’s requirement for a modern ground fleet,” NSPA General Manager Stacy Cummings said.
