Patria has delivered its fourth and final upgraded Hamina-class fast attack craft to the Finnish Navy.
The missile boat completed sea acceptance trials this summer before it was commissioned.
The delivery is part of a contract signed by Patria to provide mid-life upgrade support for all the Finnish Navy’s Hamina-class vessels.
Through the upgrades, the life cycle of the class will be extended until the 2030s.
Works for the order were conducted from 2018 to 2022, involving the integration of a new torpedo and surface-to-surface missile system.
“The modernization and Mid-Life-Upgrade of the Hamina-Class illustrates well Patria’s advanced system integration capability,” Patria Finland Division Navy Business Area Leader Veli-Pekka Heinonen said.
The modernized Hamina-class will support Finnish Navy air, surface, and underwater counter-threat operations.
“In addition to the overhaul and life cycle extension, one of the main goals in the Hamina-Class modernization has been the development of anti-submarine warfare performance,” Heinonen explained.
“As part of the new capabilities, Patria supplied the Hamina-Class ships with the new innovative training target system it has developed, which enables anti-submarine warfare training in a flexible and the most cost-effective way,” he added.
