American Rheinmetall Vehicles has partnered with Anduril Industries for the US Army Optionally-Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) program.
Team Lynx is one of the five participants competing in the OMFV program to design the replacement for the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
Other participants include Point Blank Enterprises, Oshkosh Defense, BAE Systems, and General Dynamics Land Systems.
Anduril to Provide Customized Software
Anduril will provide customized command and control software for the next-generation infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) American Rheinmetall-led Team Lynx has offered to develop for the program.
Managing Director at American Rheinmetall Vehicles Matt Warnick said that the partnership would provide “exceptional, additional innovations in software development, command, and control, sensor integration, and counter UAS systems” for the vehicle.
Anduril Head of Strategy Zach Mears said, “Anduril specializes in delivering advanced mission autonomy, enabling commanders and battle managers to command and control more lethal capability at the tactical edge.”
“We are thrilled to join Team Lynx and will leverage our deep experience in artificial intelligence, mission autonomy, and sensor integration to significantly reduce the cognitive burden of the OMFV’s two soldier crew and provide them with next-generation tactical awareness, C2, and decisive lethality to dominate future battlefields.”
The OMFV Program
Team Lynx’s other members include Textron Systems, Raytheon Technologies, L3Harris Technologies, and Allison Transmission.
The army is expected to begin the detailed design phase of the program in 2023-24 after the current concept design phase, according to Defense News.
Prototyping is expected to start in 2025 and full-rate production by the fourth quarter of 2030.
