BAE Systems announced the delivery of jam-resistant global positioning system (GPS) receivers to the German military on Tuesday.
Called the Miniature Precision Lightweight GPS Receiver Engine – M-Code (MPE-M), the device provides precise geolocation and positioning capabilities in complex and contested operational environments.
It is suitable for ground-based soldiers, vehicles, and other space-constrained applications, countering signal jamming and spoofing by enemy forces.
“BAE Systems’ MPE-M is a small, high-performance GPS receiver providing assured Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) for applications where size, weight, and power are all critical factors,” the company stated in a press release.
It further noted that accelerating the delivery of M-Code capabilities to allied forces is critical to ensuring that modern threats from adversaries will be addressed.
With the recent delivery, Germany becomes the first non-US customer of the MPE-M technology.
