BAE Systems, Microsoft to Develop Next-Gen Defense Solutions

BAE Systems and Microsoft are collaborating to advance the use of cloud computing technology to develop next-generation solutions for naval missions and maritime defense technology.

“Our relationship with Microsoft is a clear illustration of how serious we are about innovating in the digital space,” Amelia Gould, Naval Ships Combat Systems Director of BAE Systems, said in a statement.

“The combined knowledge and expertise of both organizations opens up fantastic potential to reinvent what we do and how we do it.”

BAE Systems also announced the formation of a separate combat system team, which will combine the expertise from the two companies to develop the solution. However, it didn’t divulge any further information about the formation or composition of the team.

“We’re proud and honoured to be working with the team in Naval Ships to provide unique opportunities that take full advantage of current and emerging technologies,” Rob Fraser, Microsoft Senior Director of Commercial Software Engineering said.

“It’s been a real meeting of minds and we are delighted to be able to work together to deliver new capability for our joint customer.”

Last year in February, Microsoft partnered with BAE Systems and 10 other companies to develop a tech platform to help ensure the security of microelectronics design and manufacturing using the software application management called Azure cloud service.
