Swedish conglomerate Saab has been awarded a contract to supply training and simulation systems to the armed forces of Kenya.

According to the company, the agreement covers the delivery of next-generation solutions for live training, personnel detection devices, and the latest Exercise Control (EXCON) and communication system.

It also includes vehicle training systems, training applications for various weapons, and training courses for maintenance and operation.

“This is the first contract that we have won with the Kenyan Defence Force which opens up a new market for us in Africa,” Saab Training & Simulation business unit head Åsa Thegström explained, as quoted by Defence Web.

She claimed that the company’s live training system would provide a cost-effective way to train Kenyan soldiers using realistic training scenarios.

This is not the first time the Kenyan armed forces will be using Saab’s training and simulation system. In 2020, the British Army allowed Kenyan soldiers to use the technology as part of Tactical Engagement Simulation exercises.
