Saab introduced its new deployable 5G communications system, “DeployNet,” at an unmanned systems exhibition in the United Arab Emirates earlier this week.

In a press release, the company stated that the new system provides efficient command and control during military operations. It also offers a scalable 5G wireless network that can operate even in the most challenging environments.

DeployNet enables high-capacity bandwidth in geographically remote areas and can serve as a failsafe against damaged or limited local networks.

Saab ensured that the communication system can be deployed rapidly on missions that rely on a multitude of information sources, sensors, and user interaction.

“We believe that DeployNet will be a highly valuable asset to both military and civilian markets where there is a requirement for a ruggedized, quickly deployable 5G/LTE network, not just in the UAE but for export globally, particularly in regions without an existing fixed communications network,” Saab UAE managing director Anna-Karin Rosén said.

The system allows for real-time video streaming in high resolution, push-to-talk functionality, and data transfer. It can be utilized on missions including base security, search and rescue, reconnaissance, mission training, and crisis management.

The system includes handsets, a power source, administration tools, and active telecom equipment.
