The US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center has awarded Advanced Technology Systems Company a $93.8 million contract to supply Egypt with the Mobile Surveillance Sensor Security System (MS3) Phase II.
The system comprises “surveillance towers, an agile truck-based Mobile Border Surveillance Vehicle, a Mobile Border Surveillance System Model (MBSS) 1300, and a Mobile Field Workshop.”
Mobile Border Surveillance System
The MBSS-1300 is an “off-road, multispectral sensor-based persistent surveillance system,” which employs the MIL-STD-810G radar capable of detecting people, vehicles, and low-flying aircraft at a range of 48 kilometers (29.8 miles).
The Virginia-based US government contractor claims the system detects targets with “high probability and low false alarms.”
The system also employs the high-definition HDSD-550 Electro-Optical/Infra-Red imagining system, providing images and video from a range of 25 km (15.5 miles).
Work on the contract is expected to be complete by February 2027.
