China’s New Military Regulations Eye Improved Combat Capability

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently signed a new set of military equipment regulations to improve the combat capabilities of the country’s weapon systems.

The guidelines reportedly impose higher standards and requirements for various weapons and equipment used by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Under the new regulations, all weapon systems must undergo testing and assessment in “realistic, diverse, and complex” battlefield environments.

The government has also adjusted weapon experiment and assessment procedures, which now consist of capability testing, status appraisal, combat testing, design finalization, and in-service inspections throughout the equipment’s life span.

Analysts say that problems and room for improvements can only be found if military equipment is put through “tough, scientific, and combat-oriented” testing before and during deployment.

According to military analysts, the new PLA regulations benefit the increased mechanization and use of artificial intelligence in military weapons according to the trend of modern warfare.
