US Approves Potential $70M Missile Sale to Jordan

The US State Department has approved the potential sale of guided multiple launch rocket systems (GMLRS) to Jordan for an estimated $70 million.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the government of Jordan has requested 114 GMLRS unitary high explosive rockets and 114 reduced range practice rockets manufactured in the US.

The Middle Eastern nation is also seeking necessary equipment, personnel training, systems integration, engineering, and other support related to the use of the missile system.

The proposed sale would improve Jordan’s capacity to address evolving threats on its borders.

The possible acquisition also comes with long-range precision artillery support, enabling improved interoperability between the Middle Eastern nation and the US.

If the sale is approved, the principal contractor will be Lockheed Martin.
