Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and MBDA Germany have signed an agreement to collaborate in the field of ground-based air defense systems. The deal was announced at the Berlin Security Conference 2021.

“IAI and MBDA plan to develop joint solution concepts for this security-critical segment in accordance with the needs of the armed forces,” MBDA said in a statement.

“The cooperation encompasses all areas of ground-based air defense. The experience and synergies of both companies help to develop effective and appropriate system solutions across the entire spectrum for the Bundeswehr.”

The two companies are planning to develop “joint solution concepts for the critical segment” and to mutually work together in a bid to enhance their production capabilities in ground-based air defense systems.

“I am delighted that we have found an internationally renowned and competent partner in IAI,” Thomas Gottschild, Managing Director of MBDA was quoted saying by multiple reports. “I am convinced that in the next few years our companies will design trend-setting products and systems and make them ready for use that are essential for the security of Germany and Israel.”

MBDA claims to be the only European group capable of designing and producing missiles and missile systems to meet the future needs of air, sea, and land forces.
