ELTA North America has provided the US Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security with advanced counter-drone technological solutions, improving the defense-in-depth capabilities of mobile drones.
The On-The-Move V4 (OTM V4) system adopts a multi-sensor and multi-layered architecture mounted onto counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) to protect them from other types of rotary or fixed-wing UAS. OTM V4 was designed to increase the defensive proficiency of US drones against aerial attacks.
ELTA North America, a Maryland-based counter-drone corporation specializing in the development of military electronic solutions, has been working with the Combatting Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) to build and integrate a range of “fixed-site, transportable, and mobile C-UAS solutions,” culminating in the OTM V4.
OTM V4 Features
Mobile counter-UAS equipped with the OTM V4 system can detect and track rogue drones through the deployment of a fully-phased array, multi-mission three-dimensional radar.
The system also provides US drones with sensors that can gather data such as the make and model of adversary UAS. In addition, drones equipped with OTM V4 can track and identify air or land targets through the system’s multi-sensor Electro-Optical/Infra-Red unit. Communication with dismounted personnel would also see improvements with the integration of the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) and secure 4G/LTE networks.
The system will be “employed by small tactical teams for dual organic C-sUAS force protection and to enhance situational awareness by identifying and engaging air and ground threats both static and on the move,” said Michael J. Trexler, ASD-SO/LIC CTTSO Tactical Operations Government Program Manager.
