The United Arab Emirates stopped an Iranian aircraft that was transporting explosives in Yemen, state media reported.

UAE military forces intercepted the aircraft, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Wednesday, April 18.

Upon examination, Armed Forces teams discovered a “large quantity of explosive materials” to be used against the Yemeni forces, WAM said.

WAM identified the aircraft as a Qasef-1, a drone used by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. Conflict Armament Research has determined that Iran likely developed the Qasef-1 based on identical UAVs documented in the UAE.

Iran has been accused of providing arms to the Houthis, a charge Tehran denies.
