U.S. military airstrikes in Yemen killed five al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula militants in the al-Bayda governorate, the Department of Defense said on Friday.
Airstrikes on November 20 killed AQAP Shabwah offensive leader Mujahid al-Adani and a facilitator, Abu Layth al-Sanaani, according to the Pentagon. Three other AQAP members were also killed in the strikes.
The release said Al-Adani, also known as Mohammad Shukri, was an AQAP military leader responsible for planning and conducting attacks, and “maintained significant influence” within the group.
