Coalition strikes reduced in Raqqa, continue in Al Qaim and Al Bukamal

U.S.-led Coalition strikes in Iraq destroyed buildings, weapons and a fuel point in Al Qaim on Tuesday, Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release.

“Near Al Qaim, three strikes destroyed an ISIS fuel point, a weapons cache, four ISIS-held buildings, and 36 vehicles,” the release said on Wednesday, October 11.

The release also noted an October 9 strike in Al Qaim which closed on October 10 that destroyed weapons storage facilities, a VBIED factory, six staging areas and a headquarters structure

In Syria, the Coalition conducted eight strikes consisting of eight engagements:

  • Near Abu Kamal, one strike destroyed two ISIS vehicles and two trailers.
  • Near Ash Shaddadi, two strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and an armored vehicle.
  • Near Raqqah, five strikes engaged four ISIS tactical units and destroyed a logistical node.

In Iraq, Coalition forces conducted eight strikes consisting of 14 engagements:

  • Near Al Qaim, three strikes destroyed an ISIS fuel point, a weapons cache, four ISIS-held buildings, and 36 vehicles.
  • Near Rawa, five strikes engaged two ISIS tactical unit, damaged a supply route and destroyed seven VBIEDs, a VBIED factory, a heavy machine gun, an ISIS-held building, and a vehicle.

Additionally, four October 9 strikes in Iraq and Syria closed within the last 24 hours. These strikes consisted of 15 engagements:

  • Near Dayr Az Zawr, three strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units, and destroyed two headquarters structures, a logistics node, and a fighting position.
  • Near Al Qaim, one strike destroyed two ISIS weapons storage facilities, a VBIED factory, six staging areas and a headquarters structure.

The U.S.-led Coalition of more than 70 members has been conducting airstrikes, ground-based and rocket-propelled artillery fire against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq since 2014.
